Andrew & Oliver’s story

The Andrew Penny business started in 2017 with a bicycle.

Founder Andrew Palmer had moved to London, and started offering small maintenance services to private clients: pedalling around the city with his tools on his back.

Because good people are hard to find, his business grew quickly: and soon Andrew had outgrown his two wheels, and needed a team. He published an advert, and ended up having lunch with Oliver, whose complimentary skill set made him a natural fit.

Oliver started off as a contractor, and because he shared the same eye for detail and uncompromising standards as Andrew, he ended up becoming a partner.

The company has grown, but the ethos hasn’t changed: Make everything perfect. Everything. And be nice to people. All of them.

Our Process

A reality of working in London is the need to accommodate often complex access and management companies. Through experience, we’ve learned how to establish harmonious relationships - where we set up regular meetings, ensure we meet every expectation and building rule, negotiate access and are helpful and courteous to everyone, always. It means we maintain excellent relationships with the people managing buildings, and everyone stays happy (and obliging!).

Working harmoniously

Hand-in-glove.

We work closely with your appointed designers and architects, regardless of whether they brought us in. Interior Designers love us because we have an ‘everything is possible’ approach - meeting design challenges and finding creative, resilient solutions. We have brilliant and long-standing relationships with many of London’s leading interiors consultancies - who often insist on our presence on the job because we can make complicated design visions a reality.

Our team is talked about with affection long after our projects have been completed . . . that’s extremely rare in our trade. When recruiting, we put people before experience: we know we can train someone in our trade, but we can never turn a discourteous person into a likeable one. As a result, everyone we work with is friendly and respectful - the kind of people you’re happy to find in your home at the end of the day.

Communication is key.

We believe good communication is the key to successful projects. We are always available for our clients - regardless of where they are in the world, and working to what time zone. We offer a constant point of contact for check-ins, attend weekly site meetings in person. We question aspects of the brief to make sure we’ve got them right, and we keep all channels of communication open - whether that’s by site visit, email, whatsapp or video call. It means our clients are always in control - with no surprises- and it means projects run smoothly.

Exquisite workmansip.

A tidy site is a safe site.

We are impeccably clean and tidy. We spend days prepping every job in order to protect what’s around it and within it. We leave it immaculate at the end of the day, and we ensure every health and safety regulation is met and often exceeded in order to protect our team, your family and your home.
